We are so proud of our TEAMMOLLY buddy bench at Marquez Charter Elementary School. Huge thanks to Molly’s Girl Scout troop for helping to purchase the bench, together with the Molly Steinsapir Foundation.
A buddy bench is a place for kids to sit to let others know they want to play. Molly sometimes needed something like this at school (not always knowing where she fit in) and she most definitely would have gone over to kids who needed a friend and asked them to play.
It’s the perfect way to honor Molly – her kindness & inclusiveness – at our beloved school. The buddy bench was one of the few things that survived the Palisades fire, and is now at the center of the reopened campus.
The Steinsapir family’s neighbors installed the second bench overlooking favorite playground and the ocean. Molly’s parents wrote the words on the plaque. It also managed to survive the fire, when so much of the Pacific Palisades burned. Thank you to the Pacific Palisades Residents Association and everyone who donated towards the bench. We love seeing it enjoyed.
